A "Triple Threat" performer is a performer who can Act, Sing and Dance. "Triple Threat" performers are multi-talented and well-rounded individuals who have generally had extensive education and performance experience in acting, dancing, and singing. The Toledo Met’s musical theater training program’s goal is to offer high quality training in all three disciplines.
Toledo Met Triple Threat Musical Theater Students Will…
Fall Drama Club, Tuesdays, Little Mermaid Core Class - Mondays 4:30 - 7:30 pm and Saturdays 10:00 - 1:00 pm
Open to students ages 10-14 or grades 4-8, Toledo Met's Musical Theatre Core Class is a 6 hour a week musical theatre educational intensive that culminates in the production of Little Mermaid Jr. on May 14, 2023. Students enrolled in the core class will cycle through acting, voice and dance classes twice a week while they work on the production. The show will be cast from the students registered in this class. Casting will occur during the second week of class. All students will have a pivotal role in the production and leave the class with improved triple threat musical theatre technique.

Acting classes are divided by age in order to best meet the developmental needs of Toledo Met students.
Acting - ages 7-12

Toledo Met Voice students can experience one-on-one private lessons, weekly studio classes, and voice workshops throughout the year. Students will work closely with Toledo Met faculty, who will help students define and develop technique and confidence through developmentally appropriate voice instruction. The goal of voice instruction is for students to develop a functional understanding of the anatomy and physiology of their singing mechanism, voice pedagogy and fluent stage articulation in a systematic developmentally appropriate approach to both classical and musical theater technique.

Toledo Met’s Musical Theater Dance program is for students who wish to pursue dance outside of the rigorous leveled ballet track. Students in the Musical Theater Dance program can study and perfect their dance technique in various dance genre’s developing both confident and proficient performers.
These classes are designed specifically for students who want to improve their musical theatre dance game! Because ballet is the base of all dance, musical theatre ballet helps aspiring musical theatre performers improve not only the dance portions of their auditions but also their performances once cast in a show.
Tap Class -
Primary Tap/Jazz Combination, Ages 5+
Suitable for students with beginning tap/jazz dancing experience. Some of the steps introduced in beginner classes include the brush, shuffle, ball change, heel drop, flap, cramp roll, Irish, and an introduction to time steps. Saturdays,Spring 2023
Intermediate Tap, Ages 8+
Intermediate Tap Dance explores the relationship of tap dance to jazz music and builds upon skills learned in advanced beginning tap with emphasis on more refined musicality and acquisition of intermediate level tap vocabulary and technique., Tuesdays, Spring 2023
Musical Theatre Tap, ages 13+
Musical Theatre Tap includes tap-dancing routines typical to the musical theatre genre and beginning acrobatic tap steps and combinations. Saturdays, Spring 2023
Jazz
Jazz dance combines techniques of classical ballet and modern dance with the current forms of popular dance. Jazz also has its own movement vocabulary ranging from the isolation of certain body parts to the movement of the entire body with the accents of musical rhythms. Jazz dance can take on many different characteristics and styles, including Street Jazz, Percussive, Broadway, Contemporary and Lyrical. Jazz classes can be patterned in any of these styles or a combination of them. Emphasis is on the importance of energy, rhythmical accuracy, and style

Hip Hop
Hip Hop Dance is a style of movement characterized by bounces and rocks, executed to Hip Hop music. While frequently referred to as a singular dance style, Hip Hop dance is part of a whole culture of Hip Hop, that includes Deejaying, Graffiti, Emceeing, and Breaking.

Contemporary Dance
Contemporary dance is a style of expressive dance that combines elements of several dance genres including modern, jazz, lyrical and classical ballet. Contemporary dancers strive to connect the mind and the body through fluid dance movements. Contemporary dance stresses versatility and improvisation, unlike the strict, structured nature of ballet. Contemporary dancers focus on floorwork, using gravity to pull them down to the floor. This dance genre is often done in bare feet.
